Zhongyu - Zhongyu (2016)

The debut album from this US band.

The band is s quintet with a lineup of mellotron, Chapman stick, guzheng, guitars, electric violin, flute, bass clarinet, saxophone, percussion and drums.
A guest musician added trumpet on one track.

Zhongyo is Dennis Rea with friends and the album has been released through MoonJune Records. Which means we are being treated to some truly eclectic music. Something the cover art-work also underlines.

An the speakers on my computer tells me that this is very much the case here.

The music is another visit to China and it's music scene from Dennis Rea. The music is fusion combined with eclectic prog and Chinese music.

The sound transfer the listener to China although this album also comes with a lot of Western influences and music.

The music is eclectic but also pretty melodic with lots of flutes and guitars. There is also some good rhythms here on this almost one hour long album.

The result is a fascination, captivating album which draws the listener in and rewards it. This is indeed a very good album and a true original album. A one of it's kind..... but we can always hope for more albums from this band.
