Opium Cartel. The - Ardor (2013)

The second album from this Norwegian band.

The band was a ten piece big band with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, saxophones, fujara, flute, keyboards and vocals.

The band is Jacob Holm-Lupo from White Willow with friends from that band and other bands like Wobbler, Anglagard, Pixel, No-Man, Henry Fool and Jaga Jazzist.Tim Bowness is one of the artist who gives their contribution to this album.

I reviewed their 2009 debut album Night Blooms for ProgArchives ten years ago and you can read my reivew here.  I also intend to review their new album sometimes before the end of the year.

The Opium Cartel is a younger sister of White Willow. The music on Ardor also sounds more innocent and much more like art-pop and art-rock.

There is a lot of male and female vocals here. That on the top of some rather pastoral music.

The music is indeed pastoral.

The vocals are all great and they add a lot to the music. Music which is very good most of the times. This album is indeed one heck of bright light in the darkness.

Check out this very good album.
