White Willow - Signal To Noise (2006)

The fifth album from this Norwegian band.

The band is a sextet with a lineup of drums, glockenspiel, percussion, woodwinds, bass, guitars, keyboards, moog, mellotron, organ, piano, ebow, electric sitar and vocals.

White Willow is one of the pioneers in the Norwegian symphonic prog scene.

Their sound, as featuring on Signal To Noise too, is a mix of Scandinavian symphonic prog, Scandinavian folk music, electronica and more Radiohead like rock.

The vocals are female and they are pretty prominent.

The sound has a lot of 1970s vibes too.

The music is at times very pastoral and with some additions of electronica.

This is one of the better White Willow albums and a very good album too. This although the songs are not that long. They are much more punchy than normal and that suits this sound.

This may be the first White Willow album you should check out.
