Osada Vida - Variomatic (2018)

The eight album from this Polish band.

The band is a quintet with a lineup of guitars, bass, drums, keyboards and vocals.

I have reviewed their two previous albums for # 1 of this blog and you can find them here and here.
I am not a big fan of this band, but I respect them.

The band plays some pretty heavy neo-prog. Heavy prog in other words. Music which sometimes cross over to prog metal. But that is not often.

The band has this Polish sound which means clever, modern prog with some melancholy included.
And it is a sound I really like. Melancholy is never a bad thing in music. In particular in progressive rock.

The vocals is really good on this album. Ditto for the musicians too. This band is a high quality band.

The songs follows the neo-prog formula on this fifty minutes long album. Some guitar harmonies and some freshly sounding songs.

Unfortunate, none of these ten song are great songs. They are good songs and this album is an album neo-prog fans will really like. I like it a lot, indeed. But it is not a great album.
