Giardino Onirico.Il - Apofenia (2019)

The third album from this Italian band.

The band is a quintet with a lineup of drums, bass, keyboards, percussion and vocals.
Some guest musicians helped them out with saxophones and vocals.

It has been seven years since the release of their second album. I did not like that album at all so I did not miss the band, to be brutally honest.

Apofenia is an unmistaken RPI album though. A through and through Rock Progressive Italiano album.

It is also totally different from their second album. Hence, I am surprised. Very surprised.

This album is over seventy minutes long. And it has cascades of female vocals, male vocals and a lot of music in between. The songs are around ten to fifteen minutes long. They are not really songs. They are compositions.

These compositions are really lush and full of colours. The music is epic but not so heavy. The long instrumental bits are sometimes bordering to cinematic music. They are still very much symphonic.

A real killer track or two would have elevated this album to a great album.

Nevertheless, this is a very good album and one to really enjoy. And believe me, I have.

3.5 points
