Zazu - Zazu (1975)

The one and only album from this US band.

Zazu was a quartet with a lineup of keyboards, bass, guitars, drums and vocals.

The band released this album through Wooden Nickel, the same record label who released the first Styx albums. The Zazu album had no promotion and hardly any distribution. The band therefore died.
The album was re-released on CD in 2008.

The music on this thirty-five minutes long album is a mix of US hard rock, Americana, AOR, progressive rock and arena rock. There is also some blues influences here.

The vocals and the keyboards are really cool. The songs are pretty catchy too. The band was hoping to have some hit singles of the back of this album. That hope was killed by their record label.

The music is indeed commercial and based on good choruses. But most of all, this album reeks of USA anno 1975. The good and safe mid-west and the deep south.

Besides of that, this is not an interesting album at all. The music is pretty decent and that is that. Check it out if this sounds good to you.
