Phideaux - Ghost Story (2004)

The third album from this US artist.

Phideaux is a quartet with a lineup of guitars, bass, drums, organ, piano, synths, fx and vocals.

I have recently started to review Phideaux Xavier's albums again after burning my fingers on his horrible 1992 debut album Fiction. His second album Fiendish was an improvement and his last albums has got a very good reputation. You can read my review of his second album here.

Ghost Story continues where the band left it on Fiendish. There is a lot of acoustic guitars driven college rock here with some neo-rock influences.

Well, make that indie rock with some neo-prog and AOR influences.

The sound is youthful and there is some good Rush influences here too. The music is not overly complicated and the music and the vocals has this youthful, naive feel. The feel before you discover that life itself is a fraud.

The music is vocals orientated and proper songs. There is not much exciting going on here. Not much interesting details.

The music on this fifty minutes long album is somewhere between decent and good. Check it out if this floats your boat.
