Marakesh - Marakesh (1976)
The one and only album from this Dutch band.
The band was a seven piece big band with a lineup of saxophone, trumpet, flute, organ, strings, piano, guitars, bass, percussion, drums and vocals.
This band was active in the mid 1970s before they released this album and then disappeared again. The members got normal jobs and this album remains a very obscure album.
The type of album this blog reviews.
The music on this album is a mix of pomp pop, pomp rock and symphonic prog.
Add some heavy prog and some hints of blues too and you get a pretty heady album.
The saxophones and trumpets adds the blues element, indeed.
The vocals and the guitar solos are quite good.
The songs are somewhere between decent and good in quality.
The album is obscure for a reason. Nevertheless, it is still worth a listen or two.
