Arbor Lights - Hatherton Lake (2013)

The one and only album from this English band.

The band was a quartet with a lineup of guitars, drums and bass.

Arbor Lights comes from Birmingham, the second largest city in England. That is all I know about them. I also believe this album is a free album from Bandcamp too.

The band released two EPs before they took the plunge and released this album.

We are in the middle of post rock and post metal here. In fact, in the borderlands between post metal and post rock.

There are a lot of ebbs and flows here in the music. But not as much ebbs and flows, interactions between hard and soft music, as usual in post rock.

Hence the metal bit here.

The music is not particular harsh or dissonant. It is pretty melodic. The music lacks this contrasts and light/shade element.

The result is a fairly decent album with some good stuff and some not so good stuff.

It is an album well worth checking out.
