Melilotus - Dama (2016)

The debut album from this Spanish band.

The band is a quintet with a lineup of bass, drums, guitars and vocals.

The band writes in their Bandcamp page that this album is forty minutes of symphonic prog, cinema, concept album and 1970s prog.

Well.... The songs are listed as in Capitol I - IX. That is the concept album covered and it may be a concept album too as the vocals are in Spanish.

The rest of their claims are a bit dubious, though....

OK, there are some cinema, 1970s prog and symphonic prog here. Most of the album is a mix of 1970s Spanish prog and some guitar rock. If there had been more keyboards here, that claim would have been more true.

This is though a progressive rock album and a Spanish sounding one too. There are some folk rock here and some exotic, make that Spanish-Arabic, melody lines here.

Forty minutes is what we get here and it is not wasted forty minutes. This is a rather interesting album full of promises and music we do not hear every day. I wish we could get more of the same thing.

This is a decent album, well worth checking out.
