Una Stagione all'Inferno - Il Mostro di Firenze (2018)

The debut album from this Italian band.

The band is a nine piece big band/project with a lineup of guitars, bass, drums, saxophones, cello, viola, violin, piano, synths, Hammond organ and Italian vocals.

The band started twenty years ago. But this is this is their debut album. It is a concept album about the murderer of Firenze. It is a story which is a part of the Italian folklore, from what I understand.

The band has members from the Italian classical music and the goth rock scene. It is like these two scenes has merged on this album too.

In addition to goth and classical music, we also get a lot of psych rock and last but not least; the RPI scene.

This is indeed an RPI album and it has been released through Black Widow Records. Which tells you that the music is very dark and gothic.

And indeed it is. Dark and brooding. It has a contemporary feel too with lots of saxophones and strings in addition to guitars, organs and piano.

The result is a good album and one which is a good addition to the Italian prog rock scene. I would recommend everyone into RPI to check out this album.
