IQ - Frequency (2009)

The tenth album from this British band.

The band was a quintet with a lineup of bass, drums, guitars, keyboards, percussion and vocals.

This album is the follow up to the brilliant Dark Matter album from 2004. That is one of the best ever neo-prog albums.

IQ is one of the best ever neo-prog bands too.... being in my top five of neo-prog bands. But it took them five years to come up with a follow up to Dark Matter.

Frequency is an hour long album (it also comes as an expanded version with DVD). We are very much still in the neo-prog genre.

Peter Nicholls sings very good again and the band does their best.

The title track shows what the band is made up of on their better days.

The rest of the songs......... I am not really won over.

The music is epic and leaning towards the more symphonic prog end of the neo-prog genre. Which is well and proper.

The band does their best on these good songs. Songs who does not sparkle or comes up to the standards set by their previous album.

Frequency is a good album but just that. It is still an album I will play again. It is still an album you should check out.
