Mariana Semkina on vocals had support from some guest musicians who provided drums, guitars, piano, bass, keyboards and a full symphonic orchestra.... St. Petersburgh Symphonic Orchestra.
Mariana Semkina is one half of the great Russian band Iamthemorning. They have released some great albums and has caused quite a stir.
I think it is fair to say that Iamthemorning is the best ever progressive rock band ever to come out of Russia.
Going solo, the emphasis is off course on her vocals. And her vocals is great. She is one of the best vocalists in today's scene.
The music is a mix of dark folk and dream pop.
The symphony orchestra adds a lot to her voice and vocals. The other musicians also do a good job.
The music is not packed full of sound. It is her vocals dealing with folk, pop and dream pop. There is not so much progressive rock here.
There is still a lot of interesting details here and the songs are good. The great vocals is also an attraction here. I am not a big fan of this music but this is a good album.
