Black Cross Merchants - Angels And Demons (2020)

The debut album from this US band.

The band is a quartet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, keyboards and vocals.
They had some help from an xtra vocalist on the opening track.

This year has been a horrible year for anything else than debut albums from new bands in the scene. The corona pandemic is scaring and killing the rest of us. So it is nice to see that the progressive rock scene, at least when it comes to releases, are alive and well.

Black Cross Merchants is strictly speaking not a progressive rock band. AOR and progressive metal is the two labels I would put on their output. Their band logo and the album art-work is a bit misleading when it comes to the band and the music too.

I am no fan of AOR and progressive metal. Black Cross Merchants take on these two genres are very youthful and energetic. It is full of life.

The songs are medium long and this album is close to forty minutes long. It does not outstays it's welcome.

The songs are a mix of ballads and more heavy songs.

The vocals and the musicians are doing a pretty good job.

The end result is a decent to good album who shows some promises. Check it out.
