If - If 5 (2016)

The ninth and so far latest album from this British band.

The band was a sextet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, keyboards, saxes and vocals.

If started out as a brass rock band in the same vein as Blood, Sweat & Tears. Their first eight albums was solid, unspectacular brass rock albums.

This album is their comeback album after a thirty-two years long break. There is hardly any original members left of the original band too.

The 2016's version of If gives us jazz. Standard jazz with some saxophone solos, some organ sounding keyboards, jazz drums and jazz vocals.

The vocals are good. They are more in the jazz crooner tradition than the rock tradition.

In short, this is a 100 % bog standard jazz album.

This album has nothing whatsoever to do with the band of the same name from the 1970s.

The music is not interesting at all and this album is best ignored.
