Syncope - Syncope (1980)

The one and only album from this Canadian band.

The band was a seven piece big band with a lineup of drums, guitars, keyboards, bass, trumpet, saxophone, trombone and vocals.
Two guest musicians added their glockenspiel, timbales and vocals.

This is a totally unknown band from the Quebec scene whose album has only come to light via Youtube.

The Quebec scene has given us a great deal of great bands. Maneige and Harmonium is the best two of these bands.

Syncope is also doing brass rock. Brass rock with some fusion, prog and folk rock influences.

Good references are Chicago and Blood, Sweat & Tears.

The sporadic vocals are really good and there are some good brass here too.

The music is pleasant enough. It is a bit funky at places too.

There is not any really good pieces of music here and that is the main gripe I have with this album.

It is a decent enough album though and one well worth checking out if brass and/or the Quebec scene is your thing.
