Starfish64 - The Crimson Cabinet (2020)

The eight album from this German band.

The band is a quartet with a lineup of percussion, drums, bass, keyboards, guitars and vocals.

The band was helped out by some guest musicians who provided glockenspiel, guitars, choir and vocals.

The band releases their albums and EPs through Bandcamp and that is the sensible thing to do these days as the CD medium is dead and LPs manufacturing costs a lot. So it is better to spend these money in the studio instead of in manufacturing.

... That is my view...

As on their 2018 album, reviewed here, the music is neo-prog with some German neo-prog influences and a lot of Marillion influences.

The vocals is good and the music is elegant with some melancholic undertones. In this respect, there is a lot of Polish neo-prog influences too.

The music is really good throughout and this is one of the better current neo-prog bands around. This despite of not delivering a great song on this album. But this is still a solid, good album.

Check out this band and this album.
