Etron Fou Leloublan - Face Aux Eléments Dechainés (1985)

The fifth and final album from this band from France.

The band was a quartet with a lineup of violin, bass, saxophone, organ and drums.

This band is among the original bands in the RIO scene. Rock In Opposition, in other words. That means avant-garde prog.

Their first four albums was indeed avant-garde albums. It is also some of the most avant-garde I have ever heard from the RIO scene and I have heard most of those bands.

The music was impossible dense avant-garde at times.

This album, Face Aux Elements Dechaines, sees the band take a slightly different route. It is still avant-garde and very much so.

The music is slightly more melodic on this album than on their first four albums. That does not means the music is accessible. Far from it. The vocals and the music is still avant-garde.

The music is slightly dark and there is some folk music influences here. It would had been an advantage to understand their French lyrics. I do not speak French.

Despite of that, this is a good album. The pieces of music here is a step up from their first four albums and this album is an engaging album. Check it out and the four first albums from this band.
