Czar - Czar (1970)

The one and only album from this British band.

The band was a quartet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, celesta, harspiscord, mellotron, piano, organ and vocals.

This was a short lived band who gigged a lot and recorded this album in between the gigs.

Their music is based on simple melodies from the 1960s. References is early Procol Harum.

These melodies has got spiced up with some blues too. But most of the melodies are 1960s pop music with some blues and early symphonic prog sound and additions.

There is a lot of organs and other tangents here. There are also some guitars. Sometimes pretty raw and hard guitars too.

This album is pretty unique and has it's own sound and music which sets it apart from the rest of the scene.

The music is pretty basic though and does not offer that much joy for a proghead.

Nevertheless, this is a decent album who stands alone on it's own in the scene.
