Violent Silence - Twilight Furies (2020)

The fourth album from this Swedish band.

The band is a quartet with a lineup of keyboards, vocals, bass and percussion.

I very much liked their previous album, the 2013 album A Broken Truce. See my review here.

Seven years has passed and the band is back again.

This time with a pretty muscular album.

Take symphonic prog in the vein of Yes, Genesis and Anglagard. Mix it with some progressive metal and a lot of Canterbury prog and Canterbury jazz.

The music is very dynamic throughout.

The use of vibraphone (?) is very, very smart and effective.... and great. The vocals is not that good.

The music is fast and dynamic and showcases some great musicianship. Mostly on keyboards and vibraphone.

The seven years long break has not blunted the instruments of this band at all. This album is not as superb as A Broken Truce.

Nevertheless, this is a great album and one of the best albums of 2020.
