White Willow - Storm Season (2004)

The fourth album from this Norwegian band.

The band was an eight piece big band on this album with a lineup of glockenspiel, drums, percussion, tambourine, bass, guitars, keyboards, organ, mellotron, minimoog and vocals.

Some guest musicians provided keyboards, guitars and vocals.

This band is one of the leading Scandinavian symphonic prog bands and that with a good reason.

Their take on symphonic prog is a mix of Scandinavian folk music, symphonic prog and with some hint of the menace of black metal. Most of the musicians here has a background in the black metal scene.

There are some darkness noir in their music, indeed.

The music is also epic and complex with some good female vocals and chugging metal guitars.

That makes the music both heavy and epic at the same time. This is their most heavy album so far.

The music is really good though. Very good at times.

This is one of the Scandinavian symphonic prog albums worth checking out.
