Pattern Seeking Animals - Pattern Seeking Animals (2019)

The debut album from this US band.

The band is a quartet with a lineup of guitars, mandolin, synths, bass, drums and vocals.

This band is a side-project of three Spock's Beard members and they are joined by the fourth member. The result is this band. A band I hope will stay around for sometime.

The music is off course not a million miles away from Spock's Beard.

The music can be labeled at US neo-prog.

The music here is really catchy and hooks based. It is also very melodic. There is some bites here and there from a chugging electric guitars. But the music is never really hard.

There is a lot of vocal harmonies throughout this album. More than I am used to from a prog rock band. There is also lots of guitar harmonies.

The music is dynamic and full of life, though.

The music is also good and offers up a lot of delights....to start with. My gripe is the lack of any really great songs. There is none here.

This is a more than acceptable debut album and we can only hope for some helpings from this band.
