Sunchild - Messages From Afar The Division And Illusion Of Time (2018)

The seventh album from this band from Ukraine.

The band is a ten piece big band/project on this album with a lineup of drums, guitars, violin, bass, keyboards, synths and vocals. Both male and female vocals.

Sunchild is one of Antony Kalugin's four bands. Or is it three bands ? He is prolific and the Eastern Europe's answer on Roine Stolt. And that is a compliment.
Antony Kalugin stands on his own two feet and is doing a brilliant job for progressive rock and those of us who lives for this genre.

I have reviewed a couple of their albums for # 1 of this blog. It is a band I like.

The band returns with a sunny, but also slightly melancholic album. The music is symphonic prog, but also with a great deal of Pink Floyd influences. The music is very melodic. But there is also a lot of substance in this music and it never becomes dull.

There is a lot of great vocals here and some really good, long guitar solos. The album builds up and up the feelings and ambience towards the crescendo at the end where it all comes together during the final five minutes.

The end result is a very good album which should spread happiness and joy to everyone who likes epic, melodic progressive rock.

3.5 points
