Season Of The Crow - Let it Fly (2018)

The debut album from this US band.

Season Of The Crow is a quintet with a lineup of bass, drums, guitars, percussion, keyboards and female vocals.

The band is from the west coast of USA...... San Fransisco, California. A famous city, one of the most iconic cities in the world.

This band did not crop out of nowhere. It is indeed the side project of the Symphony X bassist Mike LePond. It is though pretty different from what he does in his daytime job.

OK, there are some prog metal here too. But most of the music here is neo-prog with female vocals. Good references are Panic Room and those female fronted neo-prog bands from England and the rest of Europe.

There is no folk music and no Keltic folk influences in their music. Everything here is a mix of prog metal and neo-prog.

There are some long songs on this fifty-five minutes long album. The music is very complex and multi-layered most of the times. The mood is also pretty dark and gloomy. The music is mostly mid-tempo.

The vocals are really good and they have found a very good vocalist in Riki Carignan. The rest of the band also delivers their goods.

This is a good album and one I really enjoy. I am pretty sure this album will enter someone's best albums of 2018 lists when this album gets more attention. This is the type of new bands we really like !!
