Riveryman - Views, Fears & Stories (2018)

The second album from this Finnish project.

Riveryman is a one-man project from Toni Jokinen who does the guitars, bass, keyboards and vocals.
He is helped out by a drummer and an extra keyboardist.

Toni Jokinen is a product of music academies and other rock bands. He is a professional musicians who is using Riveryman as his solo-project/hobby.

The music has it's basis in neo-prog. From there, it branches into neo-classical music and jazz.

There is also some metal here but not much. The music is pretty epic at times.

It is really limited what you can do with a one-man band. And the limits is pretty obvious here.

The sound is a bit thin and not muscular enough. The keyboards and bass sounds a bit on the primitive side and Toni plays it safe on these two instruments.

The vocals is not good at all. Toni should get a dedicated vocalist on the next album.

The songs are decent enough but does not really rise the album up from that level. This fifty minutes long album is pretty dull at times and is not really that interesting.

This is a decent album but nothing more, I am afraid.
