Jefferson Airplane - Surrealistic Pillow (1967)

The second album from this US band.

The band was a six piece on this album with a lineup of organ, piano, bass, guitars, drums, percussion and vocals.

The classic Jefferson Airplane took off on this album. Grace Slick was here and ditto for Marty Balin, Jorma Kaukononen and Paul Kantner.

Their biggest ever song/hit was also hidden at the end of this album. Step forward, White Rabbit.
Their best song here is Somebody To Love, though.... OK, White Rabbit is indeed a very good song, though. A classic from the San Fransisco scene.

The music here is psych west coast rock. Hippie and acid music.

Acid psych rock in other words. And it was pretty progressive too..... and their breakthrough album. It is indeed regarded as one of the great US rock album.

There is a lot of intricate male and female vocals here. The guitars, organs and rhythms is also intricate and full of intricate details.

There is a couple of fillers here..... Yes. But most of the songs are really good with White Rabbit and Somebody To Love being two very good songs.

This album even stands up to scrutiny these days and it is indeed a good album and one to really check out.
