Ross - Ross (1974)

The debut album from this British band.

The band was a quintet with a lineup of guitars, drums, percussion, bass, keyboards and vocals.

The band was a short lived band who released two albums and then broke up.

The band had some success in Holland and Germany which they were touring. They made no impact in their homeland whatsoever. An US tour split the band up halfway through the tour and the musicians went on to form and play for other bands.

Ross was a hard rock band. This album is indeed a hard rock album.

There are some nuances here though.... Some of the songs are pretty melodic. Melodic but not soft. There are some catchy riffs and hooks here. Something that makes me wonder if this band and album ever got a fair chance.....

There are even some psych rock here and a couple of songs are even in the southern rock vein.

The piano, guitars and the vocals are really good here. Not all the songs are up to the same level.

This is an album well worth checking out though....
