Ifsounds - An Gorta Mór (2018)

The ninth album from this Italian band.

Ifsounds is a quintet on this album with a lineup of keyboards, bass, drums, guitars, piano, synths, percussion and vocals.
The band had help from some guest musicians who provided bhodran, violin, organ, keyboards and vocals. Both male and female vocals.

I have reviewed some of their albums for both # 1 of this blog and ProgArchives. It is a bit of a strange band with some strange albums.

An Gorta Mor is no exception from that rule.

The music is not eclectic or avant-garde. Far from it.

This album takes in everything from US arena rock, symphonic prog, RPI, some King Crimson stuff, rock, folk rock and neo-prog.

The music is pretty melodic and dynamic. This album is by no means a easy listening album as it changes musical landscapes on a very regular basis. It is bit of a confusing album where the themes are pretty short before the themes changes again.

The vocals are really good and cannot be faulted. Ditto for the musicians. It is just that I am not sure what this band is up to on this album.

What I am sure about though is that this is another good album from this Italian band. A band who deserves a lot more attention and praise in my opinion. Check out this album.
