Telepath - Mental Mutations (2019)

The debut album from this new Norwegian project.

Telepath is Jacob Holm-Lupo on synths, bass and drums.
He is helped out by two guitarists.

Jacob Holm-Lupo is a man I have known about for the last quarter of a century. We have had sporadic contact during these years.

He is also mostly known from White Willow and Opium Cartel. During the last years, he has also become a producer and coop on other projects.
Lars Fredrik Froislie from White Willow and Wobbler does a lot of the guitars here too.

This project is Jacob Holm-Lupo's revisit of the good old metal scene from the 1990s. A scene he was a part of despite of being a dedicated proghead back then. He still have half a leg in the metal scene.

So this forty minutes long album gives us instrumental thrash and doom metal.

But most of all; this album gives us instrumental music most influenced by cinematic music and not at least; Goblin.

Fans of Goblin will find a most enjoyable album here. And Goblin themselves will find a most agreeable indirect tribute to themselves in this album.

The music is more metal than Goblin has ever been..... but it is still in that area.

The music is indeed also good throughout. This is a good reconnection with the 1990s metal scene and synth based metal from that era. It is an album well worth checking out.
