Stray - Saturday Morning Pictures (1971)

The third album from this British band.

The band was a sextet with a lineup of congas, drums, percussion, violin, bass, guitars, synths, keyboards and vocals.

The band had help from some guest musicians who provided harmonica and backing vocals.

This album was actually produced and engineered by the late Martin Birch. He is most known for his work with Deep Purple and in particular; Iron Maiden. A great producer and a legend who recently passed away. Four months ago, in fact.

The sound on this album is very good and the best thing about this album.

Stray was a hard rock band with a limited success. Mostly due to the very poor management. Management provided by gangsters. Yes, one of the infamous Kray brothers managed them for a short while.

The band combines hard rock with blues, psych rock and progressive rock on this album.

The songs on this forty-two minutes long album is better this time than on their first two albums. The music has a lot of interesting details.

The quality is therefore between decent and good. More good than decent, though. It is very much an album well worth checking out.
