Purson - Desire's Magic Theatre (2016)
The second album from this British band.
The band is a quintet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, keyboards and vocals.
I very much liked their 2013 debut album and you can read this review somewhere else in this blog.
The band is signed on the metal label Spinefarm who started out in 1990 or thereabouts. The label is from Finland and is fondly remembered and revered by an old metalhead like myself.
The band is giving us another slab of psych rock from the early 1970s.
Not only that; the band is also giving us some of the sound and sights of The Beatles from their final albums.
There is still some Black Widow in their sound too. And a lot of old hard rock.
And that is this album, in short. Add the band owner Rosalie Cunningham's excellent vocals and songwriting too and you get this album. One final thing; the sound is really retro too.
There is no great song here. Nevertheless, the music is really good throughout this album. An album most progheads will find highly enjoyable and good.
I do not like hypes or even fall for hypes. In this case, there is a lot of substance in the hype around this band.
