Jadis - Photoplay (2006)

The seventh album from this British band.

The band was a quartet on this album with a lineup of drums, bass, percussion, guitars, keyboards and vocals.
Two guest vocalists added their voices to this album too.

Jadis is one of the veterans in the neo-prog scene. It is one of the original bands with ex Marillion members and members from other bands.

The musical output of this band had been good without really being great. Six albums so far.

Then we get Photoplay.

The album is one hour long. We are still in neo-prog land here. Very much so.

The music is more complex than we are used to from this band. There is a lot of details and structures I did not expect from Jadis. It is still with the same Jadis sound and it is still neo-prog.

Somewhere in the process, the band forgot to write good songs. The music here is..... dull and and simply not up to the normal standards from this band.

The end result is a decent album which never really hit the right tones. It is a bit of a letdown too.
