Ilúvatar - Ilúvatar (1993)

The debut album from this US band.

Iluvatar was a quintet with a lineup of keyboards, guitars, drums, percussion, bass and vocals.

This US band has released four albums and is still active as far as I know. Active as a hobby for the musicians. And that is a good thing.

I have reviewed their second and fourth album for # 1 of this blog. Remaining is this, their debut album and their third album. Review of that album is just around the corner.

But it started with this album and that takes us straight into neo-prog land.

Take a mix of Genesis and Pendragon. The result may be something like this album.

Iluvatar's take on neo-prog is therefore very melodic. There are some good vocals and keyboards here. The guitars too are good.

The songs are pretty catchy and nice on the ear.

This album works very nicely for some listening sessions before the lack of interesting and intriguing themes and details becomes a bit annoying.

This is therefore a decent to good album without the really great songs and details. Neo-prog fans should check out this album.
