Gecko's Tear - Primati (2016)

The second album from this Italian band.

The band is a quartet with a lineup of organ, synth, bass, drums, guitars and Italian vocals.
The band has got help from some guest musicians who provided saxophone, trumpet, bass and female backing vocals.

I have not had the chance to hear their 2006 debut album Contradiction so I don't know anything about that album. Their current status seems to be disbanded or no activities whatsoever.

The music on  this album is what matters, indeed.

The music is pretty eclectic with some pretty strong indie rock references. The music also has a lot of jazz too. A lot of the guitars are half-acoustic with lots of jazz riffs.

Other references is the likes of King Crimson and Area.

The music is both heavy and loud, most of the time. Youthful music, it is. The vocals are both melodic and screamo. They are good though.

The music may be too eclectic for those into more melodic prog. There are song structures here, but they are pretty much eclectic.

The overall quality is somewhere between decent and good. I have not been won over by this album.

2.5 points
