Kanaan - Windborne (2018)
The debut album from this Norwegian band.
The band is a trio with a lineup of bass, drums and guitars.
A guest musician is helping them out with a Rhodes epiano on the opening track.
The last years has given us some new Norwegian bands who operates somewhere between fusion, jazz and eclectic prog. Most of these bands are really exciting and adds a lot of value and new interest to both the Norwegian and the world wide prog scene.
Kanaan is one of these bands. The band comes with university level educated musicians and a lot of new ideas. Ideas from the likes of King Crimson and Soft Machine, that is.
The eight minutes long opening track A. Hausenbacken is very exciting with the Rhodes piano. And then....
....We get the trio format of bass, drums and guitars.
And we also get some very eclectic jazz-prog too. The rest of the album is not for the faint hearted prog rock fan. It is some pretty hard music to digest as it is so eclectic.
The end result, after the very promising opening track, is a good album and a band I want to hear a lot more from.
