Amuzeum - New Beginnings (2020)

The debut album from this US band.

The band is a quintet with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, keyboards and vocals.

The band consists of members from Mars Volta, Heliopolis and two other lesser known bands.

This band or project is their first venture into symphonic prog, their label says.

US symphonic prog, that is.

There is some Yes influences on this fifty minutes long album. Most of all, this album sounds like a crossover of The Flower Kings at their most poppy sounding tracks and Neal Morse.

Add some Kansas and a bit Spock's Beard too and you got this album.

The music is pretty light and fluffy. The songs are pretty long but not so epic and not so complicated.

The band knows their game well and the vocals are very good.

The quality of the songs falls a bit short. There is not many interesting details here either. This is another almost good album and another almost there album.

But it falls a bit short and that is a shame.
