Hollowscene - Hollowscene (2018)

The debut album from this Italian band.

The band is a seven piece big band with a lineup of flute, drums, guitars, bass, keyboards and English vocals.

This band was previously known as Banaau. Their 2015 EP The Burial was released under that name before they changed name and most of the band members to their current name.

I have not heard The Burial EP. What caught my attention is that ProgArchives describes their music as symphonic prog. That got my attention !

Hollowscene plays symphonic prog in the English tradition. There is some RPI lurking around too. But not much. Their music reminds me more about Steve Hackett and the likes of Genesis in their most mid-tempo moments.

The male vocals are bit weak and not their strongest side. The female vocals are really good.
The keyboards and the guitars are really cool and creates some really enjoyable soundscapes. The flutes are as always really cool and creates a lot of good textures.

The album is fifty-five minutes long and has a lot to offer. The lack of a great melody or a song is my only gripe with this good album. An album which should give this band some fans. I will keep an eye on them.
