Diagonal - Arc (2019)
The third album from this English band.
The band is a sextet with a lineup of guitars, saxophones, bass, drums, electric piano, organ, synths, percussion and vocals.
Diagonal is a band who has been flying under the radar for a long time.
That is a great shame as this band is offering up something different than most prog bands.
And progressive rock, it is.
Take King Crimson and Pink Floyd, add some 60s psych rock and the modern days ambient and post-rock. Diagonal is somewhere in that landscape.
The album starts with some 1960s psych before it truly enters the eclectic prog genre with a lot of nods to King Crimson.
The saxophones is tastefully used throughout and they are supported by some haunting guitars and vocals.
There is a lot of mood and harmonies on this album.
The music is overall very good and this is an album which I hope will get a lot of friends. It deserves it.
