The third album from this Norwegian band.
The band is a sextet with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, keyboards, programming and vocals.
Tammatoys released their debut album in 1999 and the follow up album in 2004. These two and this year's Conflicts is available from their Bandcamp page.
Six songs and in total three quarters of an hour is what we get here.
There is some narrations and spoken words here and that confuses the matter. But when overcoming that confusion about this being a concept album or not.... and it is not, the music starts to speak it own story.
The music is a mix of art-rock and symphonic prog. In particular, Yes springs to mind. And so does Marillion from the mid 1990s and onwards.
The vocals are good and the music is pretty arty and symphonic. A mix of those two genres in my humble opinion. There are some hints of melotron and the keyboards sound is very cool with some use of sampled strings.
The music is pretty complex. It is also melodic and has some pieces who are sailing close to Yes.
The end result is a very good album and one I think will surprise a lot of people.
Norway has got a new great band and I hope we will hear a lot more about this band in the future.
