Gun - Gunsight (1969)

The second and final album from this British band.

Gun was a trio with a lineup of bass, drums, guitars and vocals.
There is also some strings and keyboards on this album.

Gun were one of the harder rock bands from this era. I refer to my review of their first album for a list of bands Gun's members later joined.

Gun is also in retrospective an important band and a good band in their own right.

The debut album was a gem of an album. So how could they follow up that album ?

With some songs who varies from soppy pop ballads to some really hard rock. Some of the songs are rather catchy too.

The guitar, bass and drums are really explosive. The guitarist Adrian Gurvitz was one of the best guitarists from this era and proves his worth on this album.

The music is hard and pretty jazzy and progressive too. There are some distorted vocals here on some of the hard rock songs. And we are really talking hard rock here. Speed metal is a good description on some of the songs too.

This album is nowhere near as good as the debut album, though. The songs are not good enough and the ballads are just horrible. It is still an album well worth checking out.
