Dragon - Kalahen (1977)

The second and final album from this band from Belgium.

The band was a quartet with a lineup of flutes, drums, string machine, bass, guitars, sax, keyboards, mellotron, claviolin and vocals.

I reviewed their debut album on the second to final days of last year and I quite liked that album.

It now seems like that was their own album as Kalahen is a cobbled and spliced together album from demo tracks never released before.

The music is a mix of heavy prog with some Black Sabbath and Black Widow inspirations to some more bluesy stuff. Add a lot of krautrock and psyck rock to this album too and you get what you get here.

The sound is not good. It acceptable though, but nothing more than that.

This album is interesting because it has so much variety and different styles. And the songs are done quite well. That also include the eighteen minutes long title track.

It is a decent album but nothing more than that. It is well worth checking out, though.
