Krokofant - Q (2019)

The fourth album from this Norwegian band.

The band was a trio of drums, saxophone and guitars on this album.
They had help from a keyboards player and a bassist on this album and when playing live.

I have reviewed their first two albums in this blog and in # 1 of this blog. I liked their debut album a lot but not the follow up album.

The band continues down the eclectic jazz road. References are King Crimson and Mahavishnu Orchestra. But also add Elephant 9, Maschine Mass, Moraine and Doubt here. All of them more or less recent addition to the scene.

Krokofant belongs to the eclectic jazz scene and their music is not for the faint hearted.

It is pretty painful at times as it is really intense and hard hitting.

There is also some mellow avant-garde electronica jazz here. But there is not many of those pieces.

Most of this album is really heavy.

The music is also very good and I (finally) like this band. There is a lot of very good stuff here and this is one of the better albums from last year.

3.5 points
