Professor Tip Top - Life Is No Matter (2017)

The fourth album from this Norwegian band.

The band is a quartet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, minimoog, organ, synths, mellotron and vocals.

I have to admit I have never heard about this band before their two latest albums showed up in my inbox. I will review their brand new album in a week's time.

The band members has been around the music scene since the 1970s and is veterans. They released the Professor TipTop debut album Aoum back in 2012. Two other albums followed.

Labeled as a psych/space rock band, the music on this album surprised me a bit.

Yes, it is a lot of psych rock here. The music is a lot more melodic than that, though. This is not a weirdo album with a lot of unrestrained mad humour. On the contrary........

Take psych rock and blend it with good old symphonic prog and more this day and age neo-prog. Then you get this album.

The music is both melodic, psychedelic and cool at the same time. There is a lot of laid back hippie feeling over this album and in the music. It is a hippie album and a cool, hip one too.

That feeling is backed up by the very good vocals and the musicians on an album where less is more.

The quality is really good here and the listener will add this band to their list of great Norwegian bands. Maybe I should get their first three albums too.........
