Lucifer's Friend - Lucifer's Friend (1970)

The debut album from this German band.

The band was a quintet with a lineup of organ, piano, percussion, guitars, French horn, bass, drums and vocals.

My first of the many planned reviews of their albums. I plan to review all their eleven albums this year, starting with this, their debut album.

Many has claimed that this band is a Uriah Heep copycat band. That though is not entirely justified.

References is the likes of Jane, Black Sabbath, Uriah Heep and Led Zeppelin.

The music here is very hard and this album is among the hardest albums from that year, the golden year of hard rock and progressive rock.

A lot of the music is rather bluesy. There are even some progressive rock here with some organs and piano. The song structures are surprisingly good and the vocals are really good.

In this hard rock, there is a lot of interesting details and subtle melodies. Melodies which elevates this album to becoming one of the better albums from 1970. It is indeed a good album.
