Mushroom - Early One Morning (1973)

The one and only album from this Irish band.

The band was a quintet with a lineup of percussion, bass, bodhran, guitars, wood chimes, mandolin, violin, tin whistle, harpischord, organ, moog and vocals.

This album is a semi-classic album in the folk rock scene. It had an impact on bands like Horslips and Thin Lizzy.

The music is psych rock with a lot of folk rock influences. Steeleye Span is a good reference here. There are also some Fairport Convention similarities here too.

The music is pretty lively and rocking. The vocals are also good and so is the instruments. The sound is OK too.

The songs are pretty good and with a good psych feeling. Their three hit singles is not included on this album. But if you get the 2012 re-release, they have been included on the bonus disc.

This is a good album and well worth checking out if acid folk is your thing.
