Põhja Konn - Hetk. InSpereeritud Tüürist (2019)

The second album from this Estonian band.

The band is a quintet with a lineup of drums, bass, keyboards, guitars and vocals.
They had help from two guest musicians who provided backing vocals and percussion.
They also had help from a full symphonic orchestra.

I have never heard about this band before and their self-titled 2016 debut album has passed me by. I may get that album now....

The band is a symphonic prog band. The music is somewhere between Genesis and Gentle Giant. That with a local twist and their own take on these influences. Copycats, they are not.

The lyrics and vocals are in Estonian. The vocals are very good.

The first half is pretty much symphonic prog. The symphonic orchestra adds a large chunk of neo-classical music in the middle part of this album and some avant-garde is creeping in. Lots of cellos, violas and violins fills the airwaves.

This classic music intermission actually works and adds value to the album.

There are some more straight symphonic prog at the end of the album too.

This is a remarkable fifty-five minutes long album which takes eclectic prog to a new height/low. It is full of Gentle Giant vibes too.

It is also a very good album which really deserve a bigger audience than I guess it has got now. Check it out.
