Pineapple Thief. The - Variations On A Dream (2003)

The third album from this British band.

The band was a quartet with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, mellotron, organ, piano, synths, keyboards and vocals.

Three guest musicians added guitars, bass and backing vocals.

The band was an emerging band at this stage, not yet established. Their previous two albums had been OK'ish.

Their music is a mix of Radiohead and Marillion on this album.

..... Or modern prog, a genre later taken up by the likes of Gazpacho and Airbag too. Just to mention those from the top of my head.

The songs are a bit on the epic, ambient side of the spectrum.

The music pretty pastoral too.

The music is OK with a couple of good songs and some decent songs. This one hour long album needs a spark and it does not have that.

Hence my verdict.
