Riven Earth - Project One (2018)

The debut album from this band from Germany.

The band is a trio with a lineup of bass, guitars, drums, keyboards and vocals.
Two female vocalists are also adding their voices to this project.

The German neo-prog scene has always been very strong and good. It has unleashed a lot of bands and albums on the rest of us. Something that makes me grateful as I am quite a big fan of this genre.

The basis on this album is neo-prog. There are also some symphonic prog here. There are also some pretty commercial songs here which is in the pop/rock vein.

The vocals are really good and the musicians does their best on this album. The music is not particular hard. The guitars and keyboards are pretty restrained. There is not many guitar solos.

Most of the stuff is really catchy and light on the ear. This album also have some good details too.

Those who want a lot of food for thought will leave this album disappointed. And I am indeed a bit disappointed by this album. It is not really offering me much after a couple of listening sessions. It goes downhill after the first hooray.

This is a decent to good album. It is well worth checking out though if German neo-prog floats your boat.
