Dame. The - Losing Sight Of What You Want (2018)

The debut album from this Dutch band.

The Dame is a quintet with a lineup of keyboards, bass, guitars, drums and vocals.

The cover art-work promises a lot. I got Flairck in my head when I heard their band name. What is beyond any doubts is that the band promises us a classy, stylish album with their art-work and band name.

... And the band is sort of delivering on their promises. How much they deliver is up for a debate. A debate not undertaken in this blog.

We are getting female vocals fronted neo-prog with some vaudeville and symphonic prog elements.

The symphonic prog comes to the fore on the closing twenty minutes long Conveniently Distant. A very good epic.

Before that, we have been treated some Anneke van Giersbergen (The Gathering) like vocals from Marian van Charante. The vocals are very good and gives this one hour long album an edge.

The music is good with a couple of bloomers (children choir, anyone ?). But those are forgiven on a very promising album. This is a band I will follow.
