Gotic - Escenes (1978)

The debut album from this Spanish band.

The band was a quartet with a lineup of handclap, gong, drums, percussion, bass, mini-moog, organ, clavinet, piano, electric piano, guitars, flute and piccolo flute.

This album is one of the classic albums from Spain and the Spanish prog rock scene.

I was therefore looking forward to giving this and their second album my attention.

The music on this album is symphonic prog with a lot of folk rock influences. There is indeed a lot of fusion and jazz influences on this album too.

The music is flowery and beautiful. It is also pastoral and full of light.

There is also some shadows and darkness to contrast the lightness of the music.

The music is mostly done by flutes and keyboards. There are some electric guitars here too to make it more electric. The music is pretty much acoustic.

These thirty-seven minutes are really very good and I understand why this is regarded as a classic album from Spain.

Check it out and you will not be disappointed.
